According to U.S. Army, Moonbase Alpha is the first game in NASA's Learning Technologies project which is meant to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, education.

NASA undoubtedly realized how important it is to integrate learning and entertainment in order to keep the fleeting attention of today's youth so they will be better prepared for tomorrow's challenges.
